The Russian Academy of Sciences, together with the Central Research Institute of Epidemiology of Rospotrebnadzor, is organizing the International Conference "Genetic Technologies: Achievements and Prospects," which will be held online on November 18, 2026.

Genetic technologies are not merely a leading scientific trend; they are the foundation of tomorrow's medicine. They pave the way for fundamentally new solutions, from targeted action on the causes of disease to the development of individualized therapeutic strategies for each patient. Today, these technologies are becoming a key instrument in the transformation of healthcare, and Russia is actively shaping its advanced development trajectory in this field.

In accordance with Resolution No. 479 of the Government of the Russian Federation dated April 22, 2019, the Federal Scientific and Technical Programme for the Development of Genetic Technologies is being implemented in Russia. More than one hundred research organizations and higher education institutions are involved. The establishment of world-class genomic research centers is an important demonstration of government support for this field. These centers work in pharmacogenetics and personalized therapy, epidemiology, biological safety, and technological independence.

Genetic technologies are already changing approaches to treatment. They offer the prospect of effective therapy for diseases once considered incurable and make it possible to tailor diagnosis and treatment to each person's unique genetic profile. Scientists use these technologies to seek breakthrough solutions for cancer, hereditary, and rare diseases; develop innovative methods for diagnosing and preventing socially significant and particularly dangerous infections; and improve the monitoring of genetic variation in microorganisms. Together, these advances are shaping a new standard for healthcare development and the epidemiological well-being of the population of the Russian Federation—one that is more precise, personalized, and proactive.

The Conference programme will be valuable not only to scientists conducting fundamental and applied research in genetic technologies, but also to a broad range of medical and biological professionals who apply genetic approaches in everyday practice and help bring the era of personalized medicine closer.

The Conference is being held with the direct participation of the World-Class Genomic Research Center for Biological Safety and Technological Independence (Agreement No. 075-15-2025-517 with the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation dated May 30, 2025) and is aimed at further advancing cutting-edge genetic technologies in the Russian Federation.
