The Russian Academy of Sciences, the Main Medical Directorate of the Administrative Directorate of the President of the Russian Federation, and the Russian Antithrombotic Forum, with the support of the Russian Society of Cardiology, are organizing the III All-Russian Congress with International Participation "Thrombosis Day in Russia-2025". The second day of the congress will be held online on October 13, 2025.
October 13 is observed worldwide as World Thrombosis Day, established by the International Society on Thrombosis and Haemostasis (ISTH) to raise awareness about thrombosis-associated diseases, their prevention, and treatment.

Thrombosis is one of the leading causes of mortality and disability; over 10 million new cases of venous thromboembolism are registered worldwide annually. 60% of these occur during or after hospitalization. The SARS Covid-19 epidemic has exacerbated the situation, doubling the chances of encountering thrombosis in patients who have had a coronavirus infection.

Today, one in four deaths in Russia is directly related to thrombosis and its consequences. In addition to surgical patients, high-risk groups include pregnant women (risk is 5 times higher due to hormonal changes), cancer patients (20% develop thrombosis, including as a consequence of chemotherapy), as well as patients suffering from obesity, whose risk of thrombotic complications is 2-3 times higher. The problem of thrombosis is multidisciplinary and directly affects almost all areas of modern medicine.

Within the scientific program of the second day of the III All-Russian Congress with International Participation "Thrombosis Day in Russia – 2025", leading Russian and international experts in the field of thrombosis, including professors of the RAS, corresponding members of the RAS, and academicians of the RAS, will share the latest data and results of fundamental and clinical research in the study of thrombosis pathogenesis and antithrombotic therapy.

Holding the conference in an international format will unite the efforts of doctors and scientists from different countries in solving current urgent tasks of thrombosis prevention and treatment, will enable effective exchange of experience, and will contribute to improving care for our patients.
